Here are some songs from thee olde' Bandcamp that I am currently freaking out over.

1. "Into Black" by Blouse
Modern goth at its finest! Yay to the return of 80's goth!. The entire album is so creepy and perfect. Download it!

2. "Esquire Esquire" by Literature
Literature is just straight up youthful, if you know what I mean? It's jangle pop that's super light and fun. It sort of sounds like something you've heard a 1000x before but that doesn't stop it from being really good.

3. "Slime" by Sleeping Bag
Don't get this band confused with the indie shoegaze group Sleeping Bags, the PLURAL one. I still can't get over that there are two bands right now that have names based off of a slumber party/camping staple. Wow. Anyway, I like this song. A little monotone and pretty effortless. It's lazy rock. Is that a genre? Can I just make up that genre? Sleeping Bag, if you're reading this, don't get offended if I call your music "lazy rock," 'cause I love you guys.

4. "Rabbit Kids" by Shrag
GOTTA LOVE THOSE ACCENTS. But really though, this song is cute. Kind of shrill and marching band-ish but those are good song qualities in my book. I love it. Shrag is a great band.

ALSO, to bands EVERYWHERE: Delete your Myspaces. If you are a band whose website is a Myspace page you need to change that quickly. Get a tumblr, that's free. Myspace makes you look suuuuuuuuuper dated. Nobody uses Myspace anymore anyways.

Tumblr??? Who's discovering music on a site where people are more interested in Booty shots?

And you are WRONG: People still use MySpace. It's still in the top 10 Social networking sites, beating out Google+, according to Nielsen:

(Scroll down to the chart were MySpace is mentioned.)

According to Google's own stats, MySpace is still in the top 100 sites worldwide, ahead of Tumblr & HuffPo. Surprisingly, Reddit is nowhere in sight:

Just looking at that list and counting Social networking sites, MySpace comes in at number 5.

Kevin: I don't really know what sort of Tumblrs you're reading, but Tumblr is a great place to discover music. There are a lot of editors and writers for major music magazines that also have Tumblrs.

The point is, many bands have Myspaces instead of websites. I think it would be better if bands made their own Tumblrs that looked like websites (which many do) or use a Bandcamp. Although people still use it, Myspace is a dated platform for independent musicians to upload their work.

So TRUE about Myspace. Sorry Kevin, only Dinosaurs use that crappy site for their music. The only reason it's still big, is because people rarely discontinue a social site, even when they've moved onto something better. Especially musicians, who are terrified of missing a possible fan.
